Coming

LinkedIn advertising is coming — here's what's live in the meantime

LinkedIn's Advertising API is real and documented, gated behind a tier review Ads and Pixels hasn't cleared yet. We'd rather say that plainly than pretend it's connected.

Why LinkedIn advertising isn't live yet

LinkedIn's Advertising API has real campaign, reporting and audience-segment endpoints — it's not a dead end, it's a tier review. Access starts at a lower tier and needs to be reviewed up before an app like Ads and Pixels can create and manage campaigns for every connected client, and audience-segment access is a separate permission on top of that. Neither is something we control the timeline on, so rather than publish a date we can't guarantee, this page tracks real status: not connected today, actively scoped for a coming build phase.

What LinkedIn advertising will look like here

Once live, LinkedIn joins the same Basic/Advanced workflow as every other channel — full campaign build, Sponsored Content and Message Ads, matched-audience retargeting from the Audience Vault, and the same honest attribution rules that credit a conversion only as deep as real click evidence goes. One real limit worth planning around now: LinkedIn's own targeting has no radius or ZIP-code targeting at all, so location has to be set by city, region or country — a platform limit Ads and Pixels will surface plainly in Basic mode rather than fake with a workaround. Cost per result on LinkedIn also tends to run well above Meta or Google for the same goal, which is normal for a B2B-priced audience, not a sign anything is broken.

Run LinkedIn advertising manually until then

You don't have to wait for the API to start measuring it. Set LinkedIn advertising up as a manual channel today: a tracked link and a UTM-tagged landing page per campaign, entered spend or an uploaded invoice, and the Audience Vault attributes leads and sales to it the same way it does for a fully connected network. When the live integration ships, that history carries forward — nothing gets rebuilt from zero.

Matched audiences and why the Audience Vault matters more here

B2B buying cycles run long — weeks or months from a first ad view to a signed deal — which makes retargeting matter more on LinkedIn than on almost any other channel here. A single cold campaign rarely closes a B2B buyer on the first touch; what closes them is a sequence, and that sequence depends on knowing who already engaged. Once live, LinkedIn's matched-audience format will sync from the same Audience Vault every other channel already uses, so a visitor who filled out a demo form from a Google ad can be retargeted with a LinkedIn Message Ad without rebuilding an audience list by hand in a second tool. That's also where LinkedIn's higher cost per result actually pays off: a narrow, well-matched retargeting audience of people already in a buying conversation is a different economic case than cold prospecting at LinkedIn's rates, and the plan keeps that distinction visible in the Results Map rather than blending cold and warm spend into one average.

Who's asking for LinkedIn advertising

Almost every request we hear for LinkedIn advertising comes from the same place: B2B and SaaS companies whose buyers genuinely live on the platform — job title and company-size targeting matter more to them than the reach Meta or Google can offer. Agencies running a mixed roster feel it differently: LinkedIn is usually the one client-requested channel sitting outside their existing toolkit, tracked in a spreadsheet next to everything else that's automated. Recruiting, professional services, enterprise software and B2B events are the categories where waiting on this integration costs the most, and they're the ones we hear from first.

Frequently asked questions

Real answers before you make a decision.

Is LinkedIn advertising available in Ads and Pixels today?

No. It's scoped and on the roadmap, not connected. The manual-channel option above tracks LinkedIn spend and results today without waiting on the API.

Why is LinkedIn slower to ship than Meta, Google or TikTok?

LinkedIn's Advertising API requires an access-tier review before an app can manage campaigns broadly, and audience-segment sync needs a separate permission on top of that — both outside our control to accelerate.

Will my manually tracked LinkedIn data transfer once it's live?

Yes. Tracked links, promo codes and logged spend live in the same Audience Vault record either way; going live just adds automated campaign build and direct API reporting on top of history that already exists.

Does LinkedIn support radius targeting like Meta?

No — LinkedIn has no radius or ZIP-code targeting at all, only city, region and country. That's a platform limit that will carry over once the integration ships, not something Ads and Pixels can work around.

What can I run today instead of LinkedIn advertising?

Meta, Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising, TikTok and Snapchat are all live now, and Microsoft Bing ads in particular reaches a desktop-heavy, often B2B-relevant audience that overlaps with a lot of what LinkedIn targets.

Will Ads and Pixels support LinkedIn's Message Ads and Conversation Ads formats?

That's the plan, alongside standard Sponsored Content — both are part of LinkedIn's documented Advertising API, so nothing about the format list should need a separate integration once the access-tier review clears.

Is there a workaround to get LinkedIn advertising live faster?

No, and we won't pretend one exists. The tier review and audience-segment permission are LinkedIn's own process; the honest move is tracking spend manually now and being clear here about what stage the integration is actually at.

Will LinkedIn retargeting use the same audience data as Meta and Google?

Yes, that's the design — matched audiences will read from the same Audience Vault your other channels already sync to, so a lead captured from any connected channel becomes eligible for LinkedIn retargeting once the integration ships, without a separate list export.
