Microsoft Bing ads make the most sense as a second search channel, not a first one — the audience is real (desktop-heavy, often older, frequently already converting well on Google) but smaller, so it's best added by agencies and businesses that already advertise on Google Ads and want the incremental reach without the incremental competition. It's also a reasonable first search channel for B2B and professional-services clients where Bing's desktop-skewing, higher-income audience tends to perform disproportionately well relative to its smaller volume.

Who this is for
What you can actually do here
Full campaign CRUD through Microsoft Advertising's own API — mature, free to access, and low-friction to connect.
- Campaigns built the same way as Google Ads. Basic mode maps your goal to the right Microsoft Advertising campaign type and bidding automatically, and applies Microsoft's own targeting limits — radius targeting up to 800 km around a point, wider than Meta's — without you needing to know the number in advance. Advanced mode exposes manual bid strategies and targets, keyword match types and negatives, dayparting, device controls, custom conversions, bulk editing across accounts, and a raw JSON view.
- Reach beyond Bing itself. Microsoft Advertising's syndication partners — Yahoo and AOL — are included by default, so one campaign build covers all three without separate setup.
- Import from Google Ads. Where structure translates cleanly, campaigns can start from an existing Google Ads build rather than from a blank canvas, cutting duplicate setup work for accounts already running Search.
- AI optimizer and reporting. The same AI optimizer that reallocates Meta or Google budget toward verified winners applies here too, and Microsoft Bing ads performance lands in the same nightly-synced Results Map as every other channel.
- Built paused, reviewed, then launched, with a pre-launch policy check before anything spends.
How attribution actually works on Microsoft
Every ad carries Microsoft's own dynamic parameters — {CampaignId}, {AdGroupId}, {AdId} — in its URL, so the landing page knows exactly which campaign, ad group and ad sent the click. The Audience Vault stores those alongside Microsoft's click identifier (msclkid) and carries them through to the lead, call or sale.
The same honest-attribution rules apply as every other channel: an ad ID gets credited to that exact ad; a campaign- or ad-group-only signal is labeled "ad not known"; an unmapped click ID is labeled "campaign not known." Microsoft's own platform-reported conversions sit in a separate "claimed by platforms" band, and anything with no ad touch at all shows as "Unattributed" — never spread across ads to inflate a number.
Costs and budget
There's no platform minimum to run Microsoft Bing ads — you set a daily or total budget, with a spend cap per client, and Microsoft Advertising is one of the networks the app auto-splits budget across alongside Meta, Google, TikTok and Snap, editable any time. Current plan pricing for Ads and Pixels itself is on /pricing.
What actually differs from Google Ads
The mechanics look familiar — keywords, match types, Quality Score's Microsoft equivalent, Smart Bidding-style automation — but a few real differences change how a Microsoft Bing ads account should be run rather than just copied. Competition is consistently lower, which usually means a lower cost per click for the same keyword, but volume is smaller too, so daily pacing needs a longer window before the AI optimizer has enough data to bid with real confidence. Audience Network placements (Microsoft's version of Display) target differently than Google's Display Network, and import from an existing Google Ads structure carries over campaign logic, not exact bids — Microsoft's auction is its own market, priced on its own terms.
Frequently asked questions
Real answers before you make a decision.
Do I need a separate account to run Microsoft Bing ads, or does it connect to my Google Ads setup?
It's a separate Microsoft Advertising account — Microsoft and Google don't share accounts — but Ads and Pixels can start a Microsoft campaign from an existing Google Ads structure to save setup time, and both run side by side in the same Results Map afterward.
Does this cover Yahoo and AOL, or just Bing?
All three. Microsoft Advertising's syndication network includes Yahoo and AOL by default, and a single Microsoft Bing ads campaign build covers all of them without extra configuration.
Is Ads and Pixels affiliated with Microsoft?
No. We connect through Microsoft Advertising's public API using a free developer token; we're not sponsored by, affiliated with or endorsed by Microsoft Corporation. Microsoft Advertising and Bing are trademarks of Microsoft Corporation.
Is Microsoft Advertising worth running alongside Google Ads?
That depends on the account, but the mechanics make it low-risk to test: no platform minimum, an import path from an existing Google structure, and the same Results Map showing whether the incremental volume is actually worth the incremental management.
How wide can I target with Microsoft Bing ads compared to other networks?
Up to an 800 km radius around a point — wider than Meta's 1–80 km range — alongside the usual ZIP, city, county, DMA, state and country options, with the same exclusions available.
Does the AI optimizer work the same way here as on Google Ads?
Yes — it looks at verified Audience Vault results, not platform-claimed numbers, and shifts budget toward whatever's actually producing leads, calls or sales at the lowest verified cost, the same logic applied to every live channel.
