Local Screens ships in stages. Stage one — live now — is the player, the drag-and-drop editor, POS-synced menu boards and a basic "scan for 10% off" QR offer, with a pilot planned at our own local clients first. The digital signage advertising network described on this page — local ad sales, national fill, and Stripe Connect payouts to hosts — is stage two, and it opens once stage one has proven the screens run reliably unattended and lawyer/CPA sign-off on host payouts is done. We're not putting a date on stage two; we're telling you what it will look like and what fills your screen while you wait.
Coming
Our digital signage advertising network is coming — turn open screen time into income
You already control the screen for free today. Opening some of that screen's time to ads through our network and keeping the majority of what it earns, paid out through Stripe, is the next thing we're building, not something you can turn on yet. Here's exactly how it'll work and what fills your screen in the meantime.
Where this sits on our roadmap
How you'll get paid, once ads are live
Turning on ad time will make your screen part of our digital signage advertising network — a shared pool of local screens that advertisers can buy into, rather than a one-off deal you'd have to negotiate yourself. Advertisers — local businesses first, then a growing pool of national ad demand — will buy time on your screen through that network. We'll collect the payment, take our platform share, and pay your share out through Stripe Connect on a regular schedule, once that flow has cleared lawyer and CPA review. You'll see every ad that ran, every play logged, and every dollar it earned on your dashboard — not a percentage promised over a sales call and never itemized.
Every ad will be reviewed against the categories you allow before it airs, and you'll be able to require your own approval on top of that if you want final say on everything that plays.
What "you'll keep the majority" means
We're proposing a straightforward split: once this ships, you'll keep the majority of what your screen earns from locally sold ads, and we'll take a smaller platform share for running the marketplace, moderation, payouts and support. That split isn't finalized yet — it's the number we're building toward, not a locked contract — and the exact figure will be published here and on your dashboard before you're ever asked to turn ads on, not buried behind a sales call the way most screen networks handle it. This whole system, split included, needs lawyer and CPA sign-off before the first real payout, because paying hosts touches money-transmission and 1099 rules we're not going to guess at.
What fills your screen today, and what changes once the digital signage advertising network opens
Be realistic with yourself about timing, because we're being realistic with you. Right now, with the marketplace not live yet, your open time — if you choose to leave any open — shows free cross-promotion: other local hosts on our network, or more of your own content, never a blank screen and never a fake "ad revenue" number. Host Free earns nothing from cross-promotion slots; it isn't ad revenue, just filler.
Once the marketplace opens, local ad sales — businesses near you buying your screen directly — start first. National ad demand, from advertisers who've never heard of your street, fills in once our marketplace partner accepts us into their network; we're pursuing that from the start, but we don't control their timeline and won't promise you a date. We'll tell you the moment each stage turns on for your screen.
Why a network will beat going it alone
A single screen has almost no leverage with advertisers on its own — nobody buys one restaurant's TV. A digital signage advertising network changes the math: your screen becomes one of many an advertiser can reach in one purchase, which is what will make it worth their time to buy at all, and what eventually makes national ad demand possible instead of just local sales. You won't have to find advertisers yourself, negotiate a rate, or chase down payment — the network will do that, and you'll keep the majority of what your screen earns from it.
This is also why the player already speaks the technical standards (VAST creative delivery, proof-of-play logging, venue-category tagging) that outside ad exchanges require from day one — not because it pays anything today, but because it's the groundwork that lets your screen join national demand the moment a partner accepts our network, instead of needing to be rebuilt later.
You'll still set the rules
Nothing will run on your screen without your say. You'll choose which categories to allow — alcohol, political, your direct competitors, adult content is always blocked outright — and approve or reject any individual ad before it airs. Turning ads off entirely, for one screen or all of them, will take one toggle. Until the marketplace ships, this is all moot in the best way: there's nothing running that isn't yours already.
What it costs to try, today
Host Free is free digital signage in the fullest sense — one screen, the full editor, and a basic QR offer at $0, and you're never charged to find out if it's worth it. Host Pro is $9/screen/month at our founding price, month-to-month, and adds unlimited screens plus POS-synced menu boards. Ad-earning capability from our digital signage advertising network, on both plans, arrives at no extra charge the day the marketplace ships — you won't pay more to unlock it. It's digital signage for small business built to scale with you, not a jump straight to an enterprise contract. See the full breakdown on Pricing.
Frequently asked questions
Real answers before you make a decision.
Can I earn money from my screen today?
Not yet. The digital signage advertising network that lets advertisers buy your open time hasn't opened — right now every screen just runs your own content (or free cross-promotion in any time you leave open), at no cost either way.
Is this a digital signage advertising network I have to apply to join, or automatic?
Automatic once it ships — every hosted screen becomes part of the digital signage advertising network by default; there's no separate application, though you still choose how much time (if any) to open up.
How much will I actually earn once it's live?
It'll depend on local ad demand in your area and how much time you open up — no digital signage advertising network we've researched publishes a per-screen dollar figure, and we're not going to invent one. Your dashboard will show real numbers from your own screen once ads are running.
When does national ad demand kick in?
Only after local sales are live, and only once our marketplace partner accepts our network — we're applying from day one, but it's their decision and timeline, not ours.
Is Host Free really free?
Yes. One screen, full editor, $0, today and after the marketplace ships. You'll only ever see ad income if you turn ad time on and an ad actually sells; there's no cost either way.
How will I get paid, once it's live?
Through Stripe Connect, on a regular payout schedule, straight to your bank account, once that flow has lawyer and CPA sign-off. You'll complete a standard identity verification when you set up payouts.
Will I be able to block specific advertisers, like a direct competitor?
Yes — category and specific-advertiser blocks will be part of your screen's settings, checked before anything airs, once the marketplace opens.
I searched for digital signage companies near me — why should I go with a network instead?
A local installer sells you a screen and a subscription; our digital signage advertising network will also connect that screen to advertisers who pay to use it, once that part ships. You can still buy your hardware locally and run our editor on it today.
Is this basically "get paid to run ads"?
That's the eventual idea, though not the way that phrase usually gets used online, and not something available yet. You won't be running other people's ad accounts — you'll be renting out unused time on a screen you already control, and we'll handle finding and billing the advertisers.
Get your screen running now, join the digital signage advertising network later.
Add your first screen free today with Host Free, and ad-earning capability unlocks in the same account the moment the marketplace opens.
