Digital menu boards that update themselves

Change a price or mark something sold out in Square, Clover or Toast, and it's on the screen in seconds — no exported PDF, no calling your sign guy. Build the layout once with drag-and-drop, then let your POS keep it current.

Built for how a menu actually changes

Most digital menu boards on the market are really just a screen showing a static image — someone still has to design a new graphic and re-upload it every time a price moves. Ours isn't that. A printed board is out of date the day the price of eggs goes up, and a lot of "digital" boards are functionally no different, since nothing connects them to what's actually happening at the register. Connect your Square account (Clover and Toast are next), and item names, prices and availability flow straight onto the screen. Eighty-six the salmon at 2pm on a Tuesday, and it's off the board before the next table sits down — no editing a slide, no texting whoever has the login.

You still control the design: pick a template built for digital menu boards, arrange items into columns or categories, add photos, and set your colors and fonts once. After that, the POS handles the day-to-day.

Zones, not one flat menu

Real menu boards aren't one long list — they're a breakfast section that disappears at 11am, a specials column that changes daily, a promo strip for the drink of the month. Our editor works the same way restaurants actually run: independent zones you schedule separately, so breakfast items can auto-hide at 11am while your core menu and pricing stay untouched.

Dayparting goes down to the minute, and you can stack rules — a Tuesday lunch special, a weekend brunch menu, a holiday hours banner — without rebuilding the layout each time.

Indoor or out, one board or a dozen

Build one board for a single counter or drive-thru screen, or roll the same menu out across every location on one account. Outdoor and drive-thru layouts get higher-contrast templates built for daylight readability. If you're running more than one location, prices and layout changes push to every screen at once — you're not rebuilding the same board five times.

Still your screen the rest of the day

A menu board doesn't have to be only a menu board. The same screen can rotate in a promo or a QR code for rewards today, and — once it ships — paid ad time from nearby businesses when the kitchen's closed or the board doesn't need the whole screen. That's covered on the Local Screens overview and Earn from your screens (coming).

Hardware and setup

Runs on a smart TV's own browser where available, or a small player — Fire TV Stick, Google TV, Android TV box or Raspberry Pi 5 — that plugs into any screen with HDMI. Full options and specs are on Players & hardware. Most restaurants are live the same afternoon: connect your POS, drop items into a template, and publish.

Who this is built for

Digital menu boards for restaurants cover a wide range of setups, and we built for all of them. Full-service restaurants use them for daily specials and happy hour without reprinting inserts. QSR and fast-casual counters use menu boards for restaurants the same way chains do — dayparting between breakfast and lunch without staff swapping panels — plus fast sold-out handling during a rush. Cafes and food trucks like the low hardware cost and the ability to update a whole seasonal digital menu for restaurants in minutes instead of ordering new signage. If your menu genuinely never changes, the case for switching is weaker; for everyone else, digital menu boards pay for themselves in the hours saved not reprinting.

Not just an electronic menu board

Plenty of products marketed as an electronic menu board are really just a screen showing a fixed image — the "electronic" part starts and ends with the display itself. Ours goes further: the same screen carries your menu signage and a rotating promo today, with rewards or ad content joining as opt-in additions on the same editor as they ship, instead of a folder of static images someone has to re-upload by hand.

Frequently asked questions

Real answers before you make a decision.

Which POS systems sync automatically?

Square today. Clover and Toast are next on our roadmap. Any POS can still be used with manual menu editing in the meantime.

How fast does a price change show up on screen?

Within seconds of saving the change in your POS — there's no export or manual push step.

Can I mark an item sold out without deleting it?

Yes. Toggle it sold out in your POS or the editor and it grays out (or hides, your choice) on the board, then reappears automatically when you toggle it back.

Can I run different menus at different times of day?

Yes — dayparting goes down to the minute and you can stack multiple schedules (breakfast, lunch, weekend specials) on the same board.

Does it work for a drive-thru or outdoor board?

Yes, with high-contrast templates built for daylight and distance readability.

What if I only have one screen and want it to be just a menu board?

That's the default. Rewards content is opt-in today, and ad time will be opt-in once it ships — a screen can run as a menu board only, indefinitely.

Do I need design experience to build my board?

No. Start from a restaurant-industry template and swap in your logo, photos and menu — the layout work is done for you.

Can I preview my digital menu boards before they go live?

Yes — every change previews in the editor exactly as it'll appear on screen, so digital menu boards never go live with a layout you haven't seen.

What do digital menu boards cost?

One screen is included free with Host Free; Host Pro adds unlimited screens and POS sync for $9/screen/month at our founding price. See Pricing for the full breakdown.
