Digital signage software for any TV in the building

One drag-and-drop editor for menus, promos and schedules — on a screen you already have, or a $100 player we point you to. Selling part of your screen's open time to local and national ad demand is coming next; today, every screen is yours to run.

What Local Screens is

Local Screens is digital signage software for a TV in your restaurant, gym, church lobby or shop — one you actually control, not a static poster or a cable box left on the sports channel. You build what's on it with a drag-and-drop editor: today's menu, a happy-hour promo, a QR code for rewards, a countdown to your next event. Everything lives in zones you can resize and reschedule, so the lunch menu can hand off to the dinner menu automatically at 4pm without anyone touching the remote.

It runs on hardware you likely already own — a smart TV with its own browser — or a small player that plugs into any HDMI port: a Fire TV Stick, a Google TV device, an Android TV box, or a Raspberry Pi 5. See the full list on Players & hardware.

Host Free gives you one screen and the editor at no cost, showing your own content plus a basic QR offer. Host Pro adds unlimited screens and POS-synced menu boards. Deciding how much of that screen's time — if any — goes to paid ads is coming in a later phase; every screen you add today is 100% yours until it ships. Full pricing is on Pricing.

Build it yourself, no design skill required

Most digital signage software hands you a blank canvas and a stock photo library and calls it done. Our digital signage software works like the tools you already know: pick a template for your industry (restaurant, gym, church, retail and more), drop in your logo and colors, and swap in your own photos or let the AI suggest a layout from your brand. Zones can run independently — a promo banner can rotate every 10 seconds while your menu prices stay put — and everything previews live before it goes to the screen.

Scheduling goes down to the minute and stacks: a breakfast menu at 7am, happy hour at 4pm, a Sunday-only announcement, all without you logging in each day to swap content. If your connection drops, the screen keeps playing its last downloaded playlist — it doesn't go dark or fall back to a "no signal" message.

Menus that update themselves

If you run a restaurant, cafe or food truck, your menu board can sync straight from your point of sale. Change a price or mark an item sold out in Square, and the screen updates on its own — no re-exporting a PDF, no calling whoever built your last sign. Full detail is on Digital menu boards.

Turn on ad time, and keep the majority (coming)

This is the part most digital signage software skips entirely, and it's next on our roadmap, not live today: once it ships, you'll be able to open some (or none) of your screen's time to paid ads from nearby businesses, or plug into national ad demand as it becomes available. You'll choose the categories allowed — alcohol, political, competitors, whatever you want blocked — and approve every ad before it airs. Full detail on what's built, what's coming and honest limits on what you'll actually earn is on Earn from your screens.

Local businesses will be able to buy time on screens near their own storefront the same way — pick venues on a map, upload creative, and go live once the host approves. That's covered, with the same "coming" label, on Advertise on local screens.

Bring people back, opt-in only

A QR code or NFC tap on the screen starts a simple "scan for 10% off" offer today — live now, no app required. A fuller rewards program (phone-verified sign-in, points per visit, a Wallet loyalty card) and guest Wi-Fi sign-in are both coming in later phases. Every one of these is something the visitor chooses to do, never something we infer by scanning nearby phones. Detail, timing and what we explicitly don't do (no cameras, no passive Bluetooth tracking) is on Rewards & QR check-in.

What we don't do

  • No cameras or face analysis on any screen we sell or support.
  • No passive Bluetooth or Wi-Fi scanning of nearby phones to build a profile of who walked by — modern phones randomize that signal anyway, and several states now restrict it outright.
  • Every visitor connection on our network — rewards, Wi-Fi, or an app check-in — is something the person opted into.

Frequently asked questions

Real answers before you make a decision.

Do I need to buy new hardware?

Not necessarily. If your TV has its own browser (most smart TVs made in the last few years do), you can run the player directly on it. Otherwise a Fire TV Stick, Google TV device, Android TV box or Raspberry Pi 5 gets you going for roughly $100–$175, one time. See Players & hardware.

Is this digital signage software, or do I need a separate app for menus versus promos?

One piece of digital signage software handles both — menus, promos, weather and rewards all live in the same editor and the same zones, not separate tools you switch between.

Do I have to sell ad time on my screen?

No, and you can't yet either way — selling part of your screen's time is coming in a later phase. Every screen you add today keeps 100% of its time for your own content. When ad time ships it'll be opt-in, and you'll set the categories allowed.

What if my internet goes down?

The player caches your playlist locally and keeps playing it. You'll see the connection status on your dashboard, and it reconnects and syncs automatically once service is back.

Can I run this on more than one screen?

Host Free covers one screen. Host Pro covers unlimited screens on one account, with the same editor and scheduling across all of them.

Is there a contract?

No. Every plan is month-to-month and you can cancel in one click.

Is this different from ordinary digital signage software?

Most digital signage software stops at showing content on a screen. Ours adds POS-synced menu boards and opt-in QR rewards today, with a way to earn from the screen itself coming in a later phase — one account instead of stitching several tools together.

Is this smart signage or do I need a special TV?

No special TV required. "Smart signage" usually just means a screen running software instead of a fixed image, which is exactly what our player turns any TV into — smart or not.

Do you offer digital signage solutions for a business with several locations?

Yes — Host Pro covers unlimited screens on one account, so a multi-location digital signage for business setup is managed from a single dashboard, not one login per site.
